Laser Workshop
|
Laser Workshop is commonly referred to as Workshop B, RRCAT
The activities of this workshop are as follows:-
- Design and Development
- Machining Facilities
- Drawing / Drafting Facilities
- Staff Profile
a) A 3m x 1.2m laser work station was designed and procured
on turn-key basis from M/s HMT Ltd. Banglore. This system has
overall accuracies of 0.02mm/mt in each direction, with two axes
contouring facility. The beam travels in Z direction and movement is
also manual. X-Y movements are done with servo-motors having CNC
control.
b) 800X600 mm two axes CNC laser work station is
designed, fabricated, assembled and tested at RRCAT, and the performance
is well within overall accuracies of 0.02 mm.
Both the above systems are given to the CO2 Laser Laboratory for their use
in laser material processing applications.
c) A one meter long delay line with manual movements has been developed
and given to the Non Linear Optics Laboratory. The next modified system with motorised
movements is being worked out presently. The system has an accuracy
better than 20 microns.
d) Mechanical design of 500 W multi-beam laser was done and
system was fabricated, assembled and vacuum tested.
e) Miscellanuous mechanical design / development work requested by various
Laboratories in Laser Programme are taken up.
This workshop has machines of accuracies in the normal working range
i.e. upto 20 micron in overall performance. The various facilities
available here are:- milling machines, lathes, shaper, press, shearing machine, CNC
lathe, drilling machine with CNC table, welding / brazing / tig / gas
cutting / plasma cutting etc.; and miscellanuous fitting / assembly / metrology services.
The drawing office at workshop-B caters to the drafting
and mechanical design requirements of entire Laser
Programme. This facility has machine drafting boards, CAD
work-stations, ammonia printing, plotter for upto A1 size paper,
and design documentation facility. We have a devoted team
of three mechanical engineers, three diploma holders in mech.engg. and
three experienced & skilled draft'smen.
There are devoted and skilled personnel available in this
workshop in different trades to meet any requirements in
design, fabrication, machining and assembly limited only by
capacity of machines.
