Proton Linac Development Division

The Proton Linac Development Division is involved in the research and development of cutting edge technologies related to various low energy (up to 100 MeV) accelerator components like H- ion sources (HNIS), low energy beam transport (LEBT) systems, radio frequency quadrupoles (RFQs), medium energy beam transport (MEBT) systems, drift tube Linac (DTL) structure, and separated function drift tube Linac (SFDTL), Spoke Resonators, for H- Linac of Indian Spallation Neutron Source (ISNS), at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology. It has indigenously developed our countries' first high current H- ion source (12 mA, 50 keV) for SNS applications, a prototype RF based H- ion source (6 mA, 35 keV, 2 ms, 2 Hz) and associated critical components like plasma generation systems, low power RF source (13.56 MHz, 1 kW, Continuous and Pulsed), high power RF Source (2 MHz, up to 67 kW, Pulsed), Vacuum chambers, Multicusp-plasma chambers, ion beam extraction and transport systems, plasma and ion beam characterization instruments, etc.
